The Launch of Perseverance to Mars

This was a pretty extraordinary experience - thanks to NASA for inviting me! The Atlas V 541 rocket took off carrying the Perseverance rover and Ingenuity the Mars helicopter at 7:50 am July 30, 2020. They should arrive in about seven months on February 18, 2021

Yes it is! (extraordinary) What was the early success rate for landing on Mars? Russians couldn’t do it at first. Yeah, Russia’s first success in reaching Mars crashed on Mars. www.space.com/13558-historic-mars-missions.html Most of their early attempts failed to make Earth orbit, some failing launch, so clearly general space travel problems nothing to do with difficulties specific to Mars missions, so my bad. Russian failures are NOT an indicator of how difficult Mars missions are.

Cannot believe, after all of your years teaching me about misunderstandings in physics, you just said "It's turned to the East"?????? Rockets don't turn! It just goes straight up and it's the Earth moving away from under it that gives us that illusion.

How sad its not culturally celebrated anymore. This is a virus yes but NOT EBOLA. Its the level of influenza and the kids are not that affected. Only those of us elderly and with multiple illnesses have troubles. Vaccines not needed bc Diatomaceous Earths provides a multitude of probiotics but no monies for FDA & big pharmaceutical companies.

I wish we had more private venture in space travel and discovery. 50 years of government only has moved very slowly at a snails pace. But now with a few private players we are moving forward with more missions and more aggressive goals. I want to see regular people with the opportunities to go into space. I hope in my lifetime we build and send out a long journey discovery starship. With no goal of returning. Just keep going. A Star Trek kind of vessel ...

I wonder why the flame from the exhaust oscillates like that. Is it because the oxygen is being depleted for a short time and it takes a short time until the oxygen from the surroundings replaces the space of the depleted oxygen?

I'd love to see a rocket launch with my own eyes at least once in my life. I think it would be almost a religious experience for me. When I was a kid, my dream was to become an astronaut. I wanted to see the Earth from space, and witness the break of dawn and Sun rising behind our home planet. That'll likely never happens, but thanks to satellites, internet and other technology, at least we can all see the feed from ISS and from the point of view of all those courageous people working in space, for science. And cheers also to those working on Earth making it all possible! At today's world, I'd put all my faith in humanity on science; the people working for science are doing an important job, for us all. I wish everyone would live up to it as well, we should all do better.

I’ve got some advice: Your videos are some of the most well researched and well presented on the platform and you’re very obviously intelligently gifted. Your wearing a mask while standing alone out in a field brings both of those statements into question.

This is special and all, which is great. And I mean no hate to NASA, but I have to say this. Later, Perseverance got "Too cold in the Earth's shadow" (www.businessinsider.in/science/space/news/nasa-mars-mission-spaceship-in-safe-mode-facing-technical-difficulties-but-agency-not-worried/articleshow/77276200.cms). Even though Perseverance will be fine, isn't this something spacecraft have to deal with all the time? Haven't NASA already proven to us that they can launch reliably with minimal problems? What exactly happened to let this slip through?
